The stone records the date, in Latin script, as DIE - XVI - JUNII - MCMXXXV
Shrigley new boy, John "Eric" Darwell, arriving at Shrigley in September 1947, was surprised and delighted to see that this stone also recorded the date he was born = 16 June 1935!!
